For your term paper you are going to gather information on research of a particular topic related to an area within Developmental Psychology.
Generally speaking, you should select a topic that is of interest to you, and gather information that can be related, but not confined to research studies, news stories, social issues, etc. However, you will be held responsible for finding at least one research article that addresses your topic of interest.
Whatever topic you select, you should be able to address what the area of interest or issue is, identify who is being impacted by it, what stage of development you are focusing on, and how this relates to the material that we have covered in class.
So for example, lets say I am interested on the impact of adoption and I am curious if there is any work out there related to the impacts of those adopted at a young age (before the age of one) compared to those adopted at ages older than seven. I would search and compare what any data has to say, and then relate it back our class saying for example the impacts of social or cognitive development during infancy and elementary.
Pubmed.com is a great search engine for research articles, so is Science Daily, google and google scholar are helpful as well. Just make sure to keep the sources of your info.
You are not held responsible for formatting your paper in any specific format. MLA, APA, etc is fine with me. The paper should be a minimum of 2 pages, 12-point font, double spaced, and have a minimum of two sources cited in your paper. Let me know if you have any questions. The paper is due by 11:59 pm 5/15.
