In an essay of three or more paragraphs, please answer the following questions:

We usually think of the Protestant Reformation as being primarily a
religious movement but there were also long-term social, political
and economic conditions that were shaping the events of the 16th
    century in Europe.

Considering these long-term conditions and circumstances, in general,
why did some areas or groups of people become Protestant while others
remained Catholic? What were the general conditions that resulted in
Protestantism and what were the ones that resulted in Catholicism?

Be sure to cite specific concrete examples in support of your thesis,
and make mention of what was happening in Germany, France, England
    and Spain.
