Now that we have looked over some of the assessments and training concepts for our athlete/client, we will now begin to apply this to the Optimum Performance Training Model (OPT Model).  For this Discussion forum, please describe the concept of periodization and how it can be incorporated into an integrated training program based on the OPT Model?  Choose an athlete or client that you may be working with (or would like to work with), and describe how you would utilize different phases of the OPT Model for this athlete. Remember that not every phase of the OPT Model will be used for every athlete/client. Which phases are specific to your client’s/athlete’s needs? Be specific and provide examples of exercise choices, clear delineation of how you are applying periodization and support your train of thought with scientific rationale and appropriate references.
