    Simple sample
    Main point of article A is:Certain breeds of dogs make for excellent guard dogs and bark when someone new enters their territory.

    Main point of article B is: There have been increased cases of breaking and entering in the neighborhood where the homeowners lived alone and nobody was home.

    Synthesis Thesis A+B = AB: Single homeowners will rest easily when they get a breed of dog that is high alert and protective of its territory because there has been an increase in reported breaking and entering crimes in the neighborhood.

    Directions:
    1. Open the folder and examine the articles.
    2. Choose at least two of the articles to use.

    3. Use the main points from the articles in a way that combines them and shapes them into a new thesis statement.
    4. Type a six paragraph (approximately four pages) MLA formatted synthesis essay (helpful hints: take a look at the sample of the first page of a synthesis essay and look at the outline to help guide you)
    5. Remember to use in-text citations and try to include an Works Cited page
    6. Proofread your essay and make changes to strengthen your essay.
